Who is Adam Hall

Elleston Trevor, also known as Trevor Dudley-Smith, was born in Kent, England on February 17, 1920. His early years were spent attending Yardley Court Preparatory School and Sevenoaks School. During World War II, he served in the Royal Air Force as a flight engineer. After the war, he dedicated himself to writing full-time. He lived in Spain and France before eventually settling in Phoenix, Arizona, in the United States.

In 1946, he adopted the pseudonym Elleston Trevor for a non-mystery book and later made it his legal name. He also wrote under various other pseudonyms such as Adam Hall, Simon Rattray, and Mansell Black, among others. His writing encompassed a wide range of genres, including thrillers, mysteries, plays, juvenile novels, and short stories. However, he is best known for his work as Elleston Trevor, particularly for his novel The Flight of the Phoenix and the series of books about British secret agent Quiller, written under the name Adam Hall.

In recognition of his writing, Trevor received the Edgar Allan Poe Award from the Mystery Writers of America in 1965 and the French Grand Prix de Littérature Policière for The Quiller Memorandum. This novel was later adapted into a 1967 movie starring George Segal and Alec Guinness.

Tragically, Trevor passed away from cancer on July 21, 1995, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional writing and storytelling.
