Biography Jane Wilson-Howarth

From a young age, Jane dreamt of embarking on intrepid adventures and encountering exotic wildlife. However, it wasn’t until she was 22 with a zoology degree that she finally started traveling. Her first expedition to catalogue creatures in Himalayan caves led to a parasitology and medical qualification, as well as many more exotic trips, a husband, and the inspiration to write her first travel health guide, “Bugs Bites & Bowels”, which will be launching in its sixth edition as “Staying Healthy When You Travel” in March 2022. Jane has since authored nine books, including travel narratives, adventure stories for children, and novels, drawing on her experiences living in remote corners of the globe, particularly in South Asia where she spent about 13 years. As a former general practitioner, she has taught extensively on travel health and has been published in Wanderlust magazine, national newspapers, and academic press. In 2017, she moved back to Nepal, dividing her time between Kathmandu and Cambridge, and documenting her experiences on Instagram and Twitter.
