Phoebe Stone began her successful career as a fine art’s painter before transitioning to creating books for children and young adults. With two Vermont Council on the Arts Fellowships in painting and exhibitions in museums and galleries across New England and New York City, she influenced many New England artists with her unique, brightly colored narrative and metaphorical style. Her passion for combining images and words led her to create picture books for children, including When Wind Bear Goes Dancing, What Night do the Angels Wander, and Go Away, Shelly Boo! Her original art from When Wind Bear Goes Dancing was showcased in the Society of Illustrators’ Original Art ’97 show, and Go Away, Shelly Boo! was selected as an American Bookseller Association’s Pick of the Lists. In addition to her picture books, Phoebe has written three novels, including All the Blue Moons at the Wallace Hotel and Sonata #1 for Riley Red. She currently resides in Middlebury, Vermont.
